What is a Penn State Access Account?
Commonly referred to as the “thumb print” screen,
A Penn State Access Account is a digital identity for students, faculty, staff, and designated affiliates of the University. The electronic profile grants permissions to users for protected online University resources and services.

Please check with the Penn State HR Services Team at (814) 865-1473 or AskHR@psu.edu as to whether you have a Penn State Access Account or not.
I’m a new employee and have confirmed I don’t have a Penn State Access Account, what should I do?
Often times employees are asked to complete compliance training prior to being issued a Penn State Access account. In this case, you should select the “New Employee Create and LRN Account” button to create a Learning Resource Network (LRN) Account. This will allow you to complete any compliance-related training. Once you are issued a Penn State Access Account, you can access all future training through the Faculty & Staff Access Account Login.
Is a Penn State Access Account and LRN account the same thing?
No, a Penn State Access Account can be used for signing in to a variety of Penn State systems/applications, including the Learning Resource Network. These accounts are typically only assigned to Penn State employees.
An LRN account is used solely for signing into the Learning Resource Network. This account allows for Non-Penn State employees, and new employees without a Penn State Access Account the ability to login to the Learning Resource Network.
I forgot my LRN account and/or password, what should I do?
If you know your LRN username, you can click the “Forgot password?” link on the LRN login page. This will walk you through the process to reset your password. If you don’t know your LRN username, please contact the Penn State HR Services Team at (814) 865-1473 or AskHR@psu.edu.
If you are a Penn State employee and you are having trouble with your Penn State Access Account password, please contact the Penn State IT Service Desk at (814) 865-HELP or firstname.lastname@example.org
